Students/Parents

TxVSN courses can be done at home or at school. Your school district will provide a site coordinator (contact your school counselor to find out who the site coordinator is) who will help you enroll, and help you throughout the course. You are responsible for your computer and internet connection (except when accessing the course at school). In this section, both prospective and current students will find information pertaining to TxVSN courses, recommendations, suggestions for course of action, and resources for help.

    • SmarterMeasure

Survey coming soon! Are you ready for Distance Learning?  Find out by completing the SMARTERMEASURE assessment. It will take you about 35 minutes from start to finish but you may log out and complete it later if necessary.

After you login using the information from your TxVSN Site Coordinator, you will receive an email from SMARTERMEASURE with a SMARTERMEASURE PIN number that will allow you to log back in later or view your results again. Your SMARTERMEASURE score will not prevent you from registering for online classes. It is a tool that will help you assess your strengths and weaknesses related to distance learning in 5 areas.

    1. Individual Attributes – procrastination, time management, willingness to ask for help, academic attributes
    2. Learning Styles – what is your predominant learning style?
    3. Technical Competency, Skills, and Knowledge
    4. On-Screen SmarterMeasuring Rate and Recall
    5. Typing Speed and Accuracy

You will receive a full color report immediately following the completion of all areas of SMARTERMEASURE.  It also provides some remedial tools to help you strengthen your weaknesses.

All students that have never taken a TxVSN course must take the SmarterMeasure assessment.
